How to use a web Proxy.

When you visit a web proxy site you will have to enter a URL address into the bar and hit "Browse", "surf" or whatever they have named their input button.

But that may be only half your trouble. There are on web proxy sites some options which you do not understand such as encode page, encode url, and Remove Javascripts. This article will explain to you what these mean.

 

 

What are the options on Proxy sites?

Encode Page: On some proxy sites you may see this. When you select this option, the page that is sent to you will encoded in a document.write(); and be escaped and is then unescaped and rendered in your browser without a hitch. This Obsufcates the page so that filters cannot read the content of the page your viewing.  It can be somewhat usefull but note it can break functionality in the site. Specially with pre-existing javascripts.

Encode URL: All web proxy sites have this option. It takes the url such as index.php?q=http://www.myspace.com to index.php?q=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5teXNwYWNlLmNvbQ== . That is called a BASE64 encoding which can easily be decoded. But not all proxy sites will have the same encoding. Some might have more unique encodings to give you more privacy.

Remove Javascripts: This will remove all existing javascripts on a page you view threw the web proxy. This is good for keeping yourself more anonymous. As some javascript will not be parsed correctly by the web proxy and something might get called back from directly from the site rather then the web proxy exposing you.

Allow Cookies: With this checked the proxy will forward cookies to you. WIthout it unchecked the web proxy will not forward any HTTP cookies to you. But without cookies you wil not beable to log into any website threw the web proxy.

Remove Flash/Objects:   Most web proxies have this enabled by defualt of force it to be enabled.  This removes Java Applets and Adobe Flash from pages. Since these are exectuable binary files that cannot be parsed by the web proxy. They can expose you and make you less anonymous. (and they will not work in general as intended threw the web proxy either). That is why Video sites dont work threw web proxy sites.

What is the best options for comptability with Facebook/Myspace?

 

For best compatbality it depends on the software they running, there is PHProxy, Glype and CGIProxy and custom built ones. We Find Glype is the best.

But in general you should use.

Do not remove javascripts, allow cookies, and encode the url. But whether that means to check or uncheck the option we can't say for sure becuase that depends whether checked or unchecked means on or off.
