Operating for 25+ years from the fishing village of Bleik on Andøya island. Bleiksøya — a perfect cone-shaped rock rising 160m from the sea — hosts 80,000 puffin breeding pairs annually arriving 14 April and departing 10 August with near-clockwork precision. Old fishing boat 'Laura' (max 12 persons) takes photographers right around the base of the rock at water level. Runde Island – Herøy Municipality – Møre og Romsdal (2h from Ålesund)

Runde is Norway's most accessible major seabird colony — often called Norway's Galápagos. Up to 500,000 seabirds including 100,000 puffin breeding pairs nest annually. Opplev Runde (Runde Environmental Centre) runs guided puffin safaris: evening guided walk to the cliff viewing areas plus a boat tour with skipper Johan Moltu (boat Aquila) that gets close to puffins at water level. Puffin season mid-April to early August. Gannets also breed here — one of Norway's southernmost gannetries. Reachable by ferry from Ålesund + drive across bridges to island. Andenes – Andøya – Vesterålen – Nordland

Andenes — the original Norwegian whale watching location since 1988 — sits at the edge of a deep underwater canyon (Bleiksdjupet) bringing sperm whales close year-round.
