Alentejo steppe – near Évora

Fixed hide in the steppe area of the Alentejo specifically targeting steppe birds. Guide + 4WD transport from Monte Horizonte required (1 hour drive). 6-8 hour session. Up to 3 photographers. €395/person/day solo. Dutch guide, permits included, English spoken. One of very few commercial steppe bird hides in Portugal.

Remote Alentejo steppe

Fixed hide deep in the Alentejo steppe for the most sought-after steppe species. Guide + 4WD transport from Monte Horizonte required (1 hour drive). 6-8 hours. Up to 3 photographers. €395/person solo. Same operator as BSP2 and BSP6. Compulsory insurance required.

Includes accident and civil liability insurance. Run by MiraSado father-and-son team (both Carlos), highly rated local guides with deep knowledge of the Sado Estuary.

Guided wildlife photo tour across the Greater Côa Valley rewilding area. One of the most exciting wild areas in Portugal with returning wolf and vulture populations. UNESCO World Heritage Site landscape.

Alentejo – Sado Estuary (Alcácer do Sal)

5-day guided photography workshop (7 days total incl. arrival/departure) at Herdade do Pinheiro on the Sado Estuary. Fixed and mobile mammal hides day and night, bird colony hides, macro photography, drone, post-processing in Lightroom. Conducted entirely in French.

Greater Côa Valley (Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo)

Vulture hide inside the Faia Brava Reserve — Portugal's first private nature reserve. Purpose-built to allow close-range photography of cliff-breeding raptors with minimal disturbance. Managed by Fernando Romão with support from Rewilding Europe.

Mourisca – Setúbal Estuary

Dedicated water rail photography hide — capacity 3 people. Mobile hide with two seated positions and one prone position (hydrohide-style at ground level). Photographs from approximately 5 metres distance during afternoon sessions. Insurance included. The closest photography approach to water rail available commercially in Portugal.

Alcácer do Sal – Sado Estuary – Setúbal

Fixed wildlife photography hides on a 5000-hectare private estate forming part of the National Reserve of the Sado Estuary. 160+ bird species recorded.
